Dear Potential Volunteers,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Royal City Basketball. We appreciate your willingness to donate your time, whether that be on the court, in the gym or in the community. We are always looking for volunteers in the following areas:
Volunteer Coaches – Are you a natural Leader? Do you love working with kids? Volunteer as a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach in either our Rep or Recreational programs, and make a difference in the lives of our local youth. If you have experience coaching, great! If you are new to coaching, that’s okay too. We will provide access to materials to help you succeed. We encourage all of our coaches to get certified, and will support you in doing so.
Welcome Team Volunteers – Do you enjoy interacting with the kids, but don’t want to coach? Join our Welcome Team, and help us with tasks such as running the sign in table, distributing t-shirts on the first night, and distributing merchandise pre-orders.
Tournaments/Gym Volunteers – Do you like being close to the action? Enjoy the team-like atmosphere, but don’t feel comfortable coaching? Volunteer with our tournaments/gyms role and help us with tournaments or open gym sessions. We are regularly looking for help with concessions, scorekeeping, information booths, videography, and much more! Let us know where your skills and interests lie, and we will match you to a position that makes the most of your skill set.
Event Volunteers – Calling all socialites! Do you love people, or know how to throw a good party? Help us by coordinating and assisting in pop up events, banquets, holiday parties, etc. Every day could look different. You may be helping with on-the-spot registrations, talking to parents and players, running a booth and/or promoting Royal City Basketball. We would like to find people who can help us expand our reach within our communities, and provide a great first impression.
Administrative Volunteers – Do you enjoy working with people? Do you have experience working with business owners? You may be asked to help plan Club events, help with scheduling, or help us by reaching out to potential sponsors. Learn about all the things happening at Royal City Basketball, and help us establish ourselves as a clear first choice for youth basketball!

Volunteer Registration
We are required to have all of our volunteers/staff complete Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC) with their local law enforcement offices. Please obtain a VSC if you are over the age of 18.
A VSC is required for all individuals who intend on working with vulnerable people. This includes minors and dependents under the age of 18 in Canada. This type of screening is required for the following type of positions, among others: Teachers, Social Workers, Taxi Drivers, Daycare Workers, and Sports Coaches. It is a collection of offence information, including convictions, outstanding warrants, charges and judicial orders available from a local police agency’s records management system and/or other records where authorized. (Waterloo Regional Police & York Regional Police)
The VSC must name Royal City Basketball as the organization with which you will be volunteering. A VSC can be easily obtained online through your local police website. If you require a letter from Royal City Basketball to submit your VSC application, please contact admin@royalcitybasketball.com.
